I will be sending information for chapters 1-3 and what I need as an attachment. I would like for my conceptual framework to be based around gender, ethnic, and academic identity to explain how these characteristics are important for Black male teachers to be in the classrooms to have a positive impact on the Black male students early on. I will be completing interviews with under 10 Black male teachers so this will be a qualitative study. I will be looking at the themes that come up through interviewing these gentlemen individually. My literature review needs to support and defend why I think it is important for Black males to be in the classrooms and also show that we only have two percent of Black males across the nation actually teaching. I am hoping to find out why the men are not going into this field and I am hoping there is a correlation between when they were students they didn’t feel a connection with the teachers they had, either because they weren’t black, they weren’t males, or they didn’t see themselves in the curriculum or as an academic scholar. My thinking is if I can show that the Black males who are currently teaching had at least Black males either in the home or school that they can contribute to their success, I am hoping this would lead to the reasoning behind why I think it is important for them to be in our classrooms not only for the Black males but for all students. The literature review needs to discuss the conceptual framework of the three identities and also have supportive documents about Black males teachers and the lack of them and how they need to be a part of the public school system. The methods section needs to explain how I will be completing the data collection through interview questions. I will send the requirements as an attachment as well as my concept paper and other documents that will help guide this process.
