At the beginning of his presidency, President Trump honored Andrew Jackson, one of the subjects of your reading this week. I was wondering what you thought about Trump’s choice of a hero.
In order to keep this a productive conversation, stick to the following:
Compare Trump to Jackson in terms of biography, policy, populism, and/or attitude towards politics and tell me, why has Trump chosen Jackson to be his hero? Do you think this was a good choice, supported by a clear understanding of Jackson’s role as president?
To give you an idea of what others have been saying, below are some links to a variety of news sources/editorials. If you refer to something you learn about from an editorial, just cite it simply as I will do at the end of this sentence [Newsweek Editorial]. You may also go back to your book for evidence to support your claims.
