Assignment 1: Big10:3
Assignment Background:
Oftentimes, I find when working with students, that general knowledge of potential jobs, positions, careers and the detail of those potential opportunities is a great unknown. Over the years, as I have worked with and taught students how to find information about ‘jobs,’ students seem to be most excited when I show them the Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook, a major source of job data in the United States.
Beyond the scope of a job ‘title,’ people generally do not understand or know what all is entailed with that job…what’s it going to be like, what does it pay, what are the requirements, how do I get it, etc. Further, when examining jobs within the financial services arena, what codes of ethics is one bound and how do those impact the positions from a day to day perspective. Additionally, if one can learn of what journals, professional and or trade magazines (I am not talking the Wall Street Journal here) accompany certain careers, one can enhance knowledge and even potentially benchmark best practices. This assignment serves to synthesize the information from the first three chapters in a way that is appropriate to the scope of financial services.
Please be thorough and complete in your responses, and make absolutely sure you put all writing ‘in your own words’ as your score will reflect the depth, level, and detail provided.
Writing guidelines: Your work will need to be typed via Microsoft Word, no more than 2000 words, 12-point font, double spaced, 1-inch margins. The work should clearly address the sections required below.
