Sample experiment design w Explanations

How to Conduct Research – After reading the module on research methods (Reading #1 – Learning Module D), and the powerpoint by Dr. Cynthia Thompson (Reading #2), think about something you would be interested in studying in your current or previous employment. For example, have you ever wondered why some people work harder than others? Does it have to do with the job they perform? Their personality? Some combination? Once you have a research question, describe how you would study it (e.g., case study? experiment? survey? Defend your choice of method). What is your hypothesis? What would your independent and dependent variables be? Would there be any mediator or moderator variables? (Return to the powerpoint for definitions.) Who would you study? How generalizable would this sample be? If you fail to support your hypothesis, what alternative explanations can you come up with? To provide one more tool for you, here is a Sample Research Experiment
